It’s been quite a while since I sat down and wrote a newsletter. I always said when asked, you won’t be receiving a lot of mail from me 😉 Before I tell you what’s new at TeaLeafs I want to wish you a very belated happy and healthy New Year. I hope your holiday season was shared with love ones and the new year will bring you good health and happiness!
I recently went to New York on a buying trip. I always have so much fun and walk for miles…literally 7 miles in one day shopping. I found some wonderful new businesses with their roots in the USA and Canada.
I start my day at the gift show in New York mapping out who I want to meet with. After that is done, I wander and try and find new companies with unique items that I think may be a good fit for TeaLeafs. I am lucky to say I came home excited because I found some new items. The hard part is waiting for delivery and finding spots to place them!
My very first discovery was with a young woman who throws beautiful mugs. From Charlottesville, Virginia, this artist’s products are handmade using porcelain clay. They are oxidation fired, spray glazed and food safe. It was her very first time at the show and I was her very first customer there. Needless to say, I’m very excited to showcase her beautiful mugs at TeaLeafs. Hopefully, they will arrive soon!
Dot & Lil is a lovely company that has Vintage Teacup candles that burn 20-25 hours. Made with soy wax, the cups wash out easily with soap and hot water, leaving you with a lovely keepsake vintage cup after the candle has burned. These beautiful green tea & orange blossom scented candles make a lovely gift or accessory to any home. Dot & Lil also have soaps that are finely crafted using a soap base of plant oils and glycerin. Each soap scent is made with a different color and design then hand-stamped and carefully wrapped with a patterned label. The soaps lather abundantly and last a long time. Black tea & cassis, peach blossom & citrus, green tea & orange blossom and white tea & ginger scented soaps are now at TeaLeafs.
ZPOTS and Vnoelle is another “fun” pottery company that uses sustainable resources within their production and they strive to find better ways to create harmony with our planet. Their pottery is microwave, oven and dishwasher safe. This lovely couple has been creating together for over 17 years. They live in Vermont and make “cups of love and buckets of peace, and so much more, for humanity”. The pieces are adorned with Noelle’s words and images that gently remind us we belong and we are in this together. The pieces are empowerment and positive. Zpots and Vnoelle are working toward a renewable future. The electric kilns are powered by the Vermont Cow Power program and the electricity is generated by the surrounding Vermont farms.
Finishing up my first day of shopping, I walked by “Honey House Naturals”. I was given a sample of Lip Butter and Bee Bar Lotion to try. Having been born and raised in Buffalo, I am a survivor of many cold winters. My hands, lips and elbows take a real beating and are always dry. The lip butter is rich in anti-aging, anti- inflammatory Pomegranate Seed Oil and superior natural Shea, Jojoba and Kukui Nut Oil that softens, moisturizes and protects dry, cracked lips. The Bee Bar is an amazing soothing moisturizer for dry, cracked or damaged skin. When it is warmed by your hands, it releases essential oils and butters that sooth and mend your skin. Because it is waterless, it is ultra-concentrated, it won’t dry out and will last a long time. Paraben and Gluten free and it works!
A few of you have asked me if I carry “Snarky Tea”. After requesting samples to try (I have to make sure they taste good!) the Shark Tank winner teas are now on TeaLeafs shelf. 15 pyramid sachets in 6 different varieties are available. Caution—a sense of humor is needed when reading the tins. They are not meant to offend!!!
I am hoping that Fred and Friends new Llama tea infuser will be in stock by April to join the other fun infusers that are available through that company. I also added more natural stone tile coasters with new sayings to the ones that have been making you laugh out loud.
I am still waiting for the popular Decaffeinated Hot Cinnamon tea. In its place I found Hot Cinnamon Spice Rooibos which is a delicious herbal with that unmistakable sweet hot cinnamon spice taste. Naturally caffeine free it is a great substitute and I think I will continue to carry it in addition to the Decaffeinated version when that becomes available. I also added Peppermint Stick Black tea to TeaLeafs wall of teas. It is a wonderful black tea with a refreshing peppermint taste and actually has candy cane pieces in the tea. Yum!
I have continued to add to the Anuschka hand-painted quality leather products. They are a weakness of mine.
I’m looking forward to longer days, spring being right around the corner and introducing new teas and items to TeaLeafs. And I look forward to seeing you again!
Thank you for your continued friendship and support.
As I always say, I wouldn’t be here without you.
